YT Basic Intensive
Our Teaching Artists work with students to create an original script that explores personal identity, family history and various issues that directly affect their lives. Guest artists (actors, designers, directors) further support learning and expose students to career options. Students are also introduced to marketing and producing for the theater and assist with stage and house management for their final presentation. Whenever possible, we provide free tickets to one of our professional productions. Young Theaterworks Intensive culminates with one staged reading of students’ work in a professional setting, open to the public and performed by professional actors alongside student participants who choose to perform. (Students are encouraged but not required to perform)
Key Outcomes for Young Theaterworks Intensive participants:
• improve reading, writing and comprehension skills;
• increase ability to work collaboratively with peers and professionals;

• fulfill state Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), and Language Arts curriculum standards;
