theresa chavez, artistic director

Theresa Chavez is co-founder and Producing Artistic Director of About…Productions. She is an interdisciplinary theater artist whose work, as director, playwright and producer, has has engaged with numerous communities, and cultural and educational institutions, locally and nationally. Over the past thirty years this work has focused on uncovering buried cultural histories, and exploring notions of cultural identity and authenticity.


deanne Millais, administrative director (part time)

DeAnne Millaishas over 20 years of experience in event production, fundraising, administration, and creative project management for corporate, non-profit, and entertainment clientele. She is active in the Los Angeles theater community as a professional scenic designer and an avid theater-goer.


gabriel garza, co-creator adobe punk

Gabriel Garza received a B.A. in Art, and Minor in Music History from UCLA in 2017. His sculpture and performance practice are based on popular music, and its history. Recent work include organizing the group show, "Tchotchke," at a soon-to-be demolished home, and exhibiting in "Fantasies and Fallacies," a Pacific Standard Time LA/LA show at the Mexican Consulate. In Sept 2018 he was the artist-in-residence at 2727 California Street, an art and education initiative in Berkeley.

josE garcia, lead teaching artist

Jose A. Garcia is an actor, musician and activist who has been with the About Productions' Young Theaterworks Residency and Chicano Legacy Project Workshops Program for 4 years. He is a member of SAG/AFTRA and a graduate of the University of Southern California, and the Drama Studio London at Berkeley. As an industry professional, Jose has worked in several stage, film, and television productions and has been recognized for his work in the arts, and in working with immigrant populations around affordable housing rights.


Marlene beltran cuauhtin, teaching artist

Marlene Beltran Cuauhtin is a Teaching Artist, Singer/Songwriter, and Actor/Director. For About…Productions’ Young Theaterworks program she has served as Lead Teaching Artist, Teaching Artist/Playwright Mentor and Actor since 2016 for the company's residency and workshop programs in East L.A. and Pasadena. She served as a director for the 2019 Latino Scene Showcase co-produced by the National Hispanic Media Coalition and About...Productions. She is a member of Los Angeles-based performance groups In Lak Ech, Las Ramonas, and Cuicani.
